About Us

The Emergency Services Steering Committee (ESSC) was formed in 2005 at the recommendation of senior staff from municipalities represented by the Large Urban Mayors Caucus of Ontario (LUMCO) and Mayors and Regional Chairs of Ontario (MARCO) and the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards (OAPSB) in response to the rapidly increasing emergency services costs across Ontario.

 

The ESSC membership now includes multiple employer stakeholders involved in emergency services and municipal budgets, and provides advocacy, background information and research on all issues relating to emergency service costs.

 

Mandate

 

The goal of the ESSC is to provide municipal decision-makers with accurate information on emergency services costs across Ontario in an effort to form a coordinated, strategic approach to bargaining.

 

The ESSC is a forum for collaboration and strategic discussion and research on all issues relating to emergency services costs.
